Professional Executive Portrait Wardrobe Tips

Your professional portrait is an investment in your business and should convey your sense of professionalism, sophistication and friendliness.
Wardrobe Tips
Solid Colors are Best
For your professional executive headshot, solids create a classic and timeless look that will endure throughout the years. Please avoid patterns, bold stripes, polka-dots, and florals.  Patterns draw attention to clothing rather than faces.

Long Sleeves are Best
Less skin is more! Avoid plunging neck lines. We recommend neck ties, medium to high collars, cowl necks or anything else high on the neck is recommended. Long sleeves and long pants are also highly recommended. Low necks & short sleeves draw attention away from the face.
Jackets and Dresses:   Darker Colors
Darker colors slenderize! We recommend colors like black, brown, hunter green, burgundy, royal blue. Please Dry Clean prior to your session.
Shirts and Blouses:  Medium Colors
Blue, brown, taupe, yellow, gold, pink, lavender etc. Try to avoid white.

Tie, Scarf or Blouse:  Bright Power Colors
Red, Yellow, Royal Blue, Purple
Remember to Dry-clean your Jacket, shirt or blouse prior to your photo-session!
Limit Your Accessories: It is advisable to wear minimal accessories. For instance, instead of wearing bulky earrings, you could wear small pearl or diamond studs. Instead of a bulky, shining watch, you could wear a watch that is sleek and does not stand out among the rest of your clothing.
Your Face
Facial shine is extremely detrimental to a great head-shot. Any person with oily, shiny, or perspiring skin should be cleaned and/or dusted with cosmetic powder just prior to your photo session. This goes for men too!
Please bring cosmetic powder & concealer with you to reapply as needed during the photographic session.
Ladies: Apply normal day time makeup or slightly heavier than normal and add some color to the cheeks and lips.
Men: To avoid 5:00 shadow, it is best to be clean shaven 2 hours before the session. Don’t forget your nose and ears!
Do not schedule a facial or any kind of skin treatment within one week prior to your photo session.
Your Hair
It is not recommended to change your hairstyle just before your photographic session. Style your hair and use hair spray to hold it in place. (Men too!)
Please bring hair spray and hair brushes to the photo session.
