Retouching Your Executive Headshot
Most people are anxious about posing for executive headshots, but when I tell my clients that “I will be retouching your executive headshot” it always sets them at ease.
If you talk to me about your concerns and insecurities when you come in for your appointment, I will do everything in my power to lessen them. My job is to make you look like the best version of yourself. Retouching your professional headshot can make a huge difference.
Here’s what my recent client Nasr had to say about his experience:
“I found Steve on Google and was driven by the 5-star reviews. Once I met him, I understood where the reviews were coming from. He is a great guy, professional, punctual, and knew exactly what I needed. My executive photos were amazing and the final product was done in 48 hours.”
About the retouching process
As I mentioned in a recent article, not all professional photographers are experts in retouching photos, so they rely on artificial intelligence software. Others outsource it to a third-party vendor.
But I’m old school, so I do my own retouching. I feel that as the person who has developed a rapport with you, I’m the most likely to do the job to your satisfaction.
Here are some highly requested touch-ups:
- Soften or remove lines on face and neck (tied for most requested)
- Remove under eye darkness
- Reduce facial shine
- Tame fly-away hair
- Remove lint from jacket
- Whiten teeth
However, that’s not the limit to what I can modify. In addition to the previous touch-ups, I also do the following:
- Reduce weight (tied for most requested)
- Straighten teeth
- Open or alter eyes
- Remove veins, yellow or redness in eyes
- Add or remove hair
- Airbrush skin
- Fix wardrobe imperfections
Summary
If you choose a photographer who uses a software program or outside party to retouch their work, it’s likely everyone who views your executive headshot will notice.
You want someone with the skills and experience to do the retouching process themselves. After all, it’s a delicate task requiring a combination of artistry and science. My clients know the difference!
I take my work very seriously, so I’ll devote as much time as needed to ensure you are nothing less than thrilled with your finished portrait. It’s your photo, but it’s my reputation. Making my clients happy is my Number One priority.
