Assignment Highlights
I had the incredible opportunity to photograph a three-day corporate event for my longtime client, TD SYNNEX, held at the stunning Loews Portofino Bay Hotel at Universal Orlando. This luxurious venue, known for its Italian-inspired architecture and breathtaking waterfront views, provided the perfect backdrop for an unforgettable experience.
As always, the event planning team at TD SYNNEX delivered—hosting a top-tier gathering that seamlessly blended professionalism with enjoyment. From vibrant networking sessions and dynamic meetings to evening receptions, every detail was thoughtfully executed.
Guests enjoyed breakfast, lunch and dinner at Loews Portofino Bay Hotel. A dinner out at Bigfire at City Walk, a magical visit to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, and the final evening culminated in a beautiful outdoor reception with dinner and dancing along the Portofino Bay lagoon.
With over 30 hours of photography covering every moment, this event was a true celebration of connection, collaboration, and fun.
Assignment Challenges for a Corporate Event Photographer
Photographing a three-day corporate event at Loews Portofino Bay Hotel and Universal CityWalk came with a unique set of challenges that tested both creativity and endurance. With three to four concurrent breakout sessions scheduled every hour, strategic planning and constant movement were crucial to ensure comprehensive coverage of the event.
Weather conditions added an unexpected obstacle—a sudden downpour during our visit to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter required quick thinking to protect equipment while still capturing the excitement and energy of the moment.
Adding to the intensity, I was responsible for providing daily highlight photos for social media, which meant late nights spent culling and editing images under tight deadlines. Despite the demanding schedule, it was incredibly rewarding to help the TD SYNNEX team share their story in real time with high-impact visuals.
To enhance our coverage, I brought in Malachi Cull, an experienced professional videographer and filmmaker. Malachi was instrumental in capturing key interviews, keynote speakers, entertainment, and a variety of other moments throughout the event. We worked closely to coordinate our schedules and ensure that no important detail was missed. After the event, Malachi was tasked with producing a dynamic highlight video for marketing and educational use—an essential piece that brought the entire experience to life.
My Solution
Communication, Planning, Flexibility, and Experience
Brittany Forte, lead event planner provided a detailed agenda of the event. To manage the fast-paced schedule, I created a detailed shooting plan ahead of the event—mapping out breakout session times, room locations, and key moments to prioritize.
I worked closely with the Brittany and her team to stay in sync and adjust in real time.
During the rain at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, I quickly switched to into a Harry Potter poncho to protect my photographic gear and adapted my shooting style to capture the energy and excitement, even in less-than-ideal conditions.
For the daily social media highlights, I built in short editing blocks between sessions, allowing me to deliver high-quality, same-day images without compromising coverage. Staying organized, adaptable, and proactive was key to successfully telling the story of this incredible event from start to finish.
