Highlights Photographing Headshots for McKibbon Hospitality

I recently had the opportunity to photograph 13 professional headshots for McKibbon Hospitality, a leading hotel management company. The session took place inside their corporate office, which offered a beautiful setting for portraits.

The space featured modern architecture, stylish furnishings, and colorful artwork, all of which created a professional yet vibrant atmosphere. Using these design elements as a backdrop allowed me to capture portraits that felt polished while still reflecting the personality and energy of the company.

The result was a cohesive collection of headshots that showcase the McKibbon team in a confident, approachable, and professional light—perfect for representing their brand across corporate materials, press, and online platforms.

Assignment Challenges

Challenges of Photographing Headshots at a Corporate Office with Large Windows

Photographing corporate headshots on location always comes with its own unique set of challenges—and a recent session with 13 team members at a corporate office was no exception.

The office space featured beautiful large windows, which made for a clean and professional backdrop. However, with morning sun streaming directly through the glass, I had to carefully position my setup to avoid harsh light spilling onto faces. Staying out of direct sun was essential to maintain flattering, even lighting while still keeping the bright background in play.

Another obstacle was the overhead fluorescent lighting. These fixtures can easily cast unflattering yellowish tones or hot spots across the forehead and nose. To counter this, I worked strategically with my own lighting to neutralize any color shifts and maintain a natural, professional look for each headshot.

In addition, a makeup artist was present to touch up each individual before their turn in front of the camera. While this added polish to the final results, it also meant longer pauses between subjects. With 13 people scheduled, those waiting periods extended the session well past the originally planned timeframe.

Despite these challenges, the session produced a cohesive set of polished, professional headshots that the client was thrilled with. It’s always rewarding to navigate the unexpected variables of a shoot and still deliver results that exceed expectations.
